Nostalgia & History > SN, to Dozier and WoodlandDate: 04/29/06 22:58 SN, to Dozier and Woodland Author: qnyla The SN ran out to Dozier from West Sacramento using the SP's Cal-P line (due to loss of SN line in collapse of SN's Lisbon Trestle in 1951). Here are a couple of random shots of the SN using trackage rights on the SP at Davis. The last shot is on the SN's Woodland Branch.
1. SN train at Davis, CA February 23, 1980 (The nose of SP Bicentennial GP40P-2 3197 sitting on East leg of Wye is just barley visible behind caboose). 2. SN train at Davis, CA October 4, 1980. 3. SN train on Woodland Branch, October 1, 1982. Anyone know when Davis Tower closed as a manned tower? Is it still UP property? Date: 05/01/06 19:09 Re: SN, to Dozier and Woodland Author: qnyla Davis tower was closed as a manned tower sometime before 1978 when I started hanging around the depot on my bike. The SP operator was located in the depot at that time. A recent visit back to Davis confimed that the tower is still UP property (signed as such) while the depot is City of Davis property.
