That view has all the makings of a postcard by the late Henry W. Brueckman. Also, how many units were lost in the tunnel collision and fire? Africansteam Date: 05/05/06 21:35 Re: Oroville Dam Units Author: ATSF100WEST I can say I remember one of them. Will never forget that Kelly Green and Copper paint scheme. I got to crawl all over it at the ripe old age of 12, while in attendance of the Chicago Railroad Fair, late summer of 1963. GE also had a UP U-50-B there; I don't remember what road the U-25-B was on display. EMD had the GP-35/DD-35B/GP-35 demonstrator set for review. I know Alco had locos present, but I don't recall what - maybe a C-855?
Thanks for sharing a rare photo of rarer units. Bob ATSF100WEST......Out Date: 05/05/06 21:41 Oro Dam U25C roster [link] Author: topper Date: 05/05/06 21:47 Re: Oro Dam U25C roster [link] Author: drew1946 Oh, another reminder of something I should have shot but didn't<sigh>

Thank you both for sharing these with us. This road gets my vote for having one of the nicer paint schemes...green, gold with silver trucks. For a long time, they kept the trucks clean too. I shot it once, but very poorly. Also saw it with my folks when I was heading up to Susanville to attend J.C. in 1964. Quite an operation.
