Thanks. Date: 06/13/06 05:32 Re: UP car 300, what is it? Author: Hiroshi It is a power generator car.
Hope this helps. Hiroshi Date: 06/13/06 08:27 Re: UP car 300, what is it? Author: donstrack UP 300 was a Boiler Dormitory car, rebuilt in 1962 by UP from Baggage Dormitory car 6000. UP 300 was sold in 1993.
The original group of five cars (UP 6000-6004) were built in 1949 by AC&F as the above mentioned Baggage Dormitory cars. All were converted in 1962 to Boiler Dormitory cars by adding a steam generator in one end, and renumbered to UP 300-304. UP 300 and 301 were sold. UP 302-304 are currently in service as UPP 207, 208, and 209. UPP 209 is named as "Howard Fogg" in memory of the artist. Take a look here for the 200-series cars: http://utahrails.net/pass/heritage-fleet-4.php#power-upp-207 ...and here for the 300-series cars: http://utahrails.net/pass/heritage-fleet-4.php#boiler-dorm-300 Don Strack http://utahrails.net Date: 06/13/06 12:25 Re: UP car 300, what is it? Author: UPNW2-1083 One note to all the info above, it that one end of the car has a 2 axle truck, and the other end a 3 axle truck. It seems strange when you go over a detector and get an odd numbered axle count.-BMT
