A little history in Industry
Author: Espee4Ever

I shot these on Father's Day this year out banging around City of Industry. These locomotives were sitting on a siding on the west end of the yard, a fuel truck showed up about 10 minutes after I took these and proceeded to go to work. I included the history of each loco in the consist I have or could find through various roster websites.

1. GP38-2 - UP 763 built for the CRI&P as the 4325 in Oct. '76, then becomes the MoPac 2263.
2. GP38AC - UP 1783 built for the IC as the 9500 in Feb. '70, then becomes the ICG 9500, then MKT 325.
3. GP38-3 - UP 1016 I can find very little history on this one other than it was built in June '71.

4. GP40-2 - UP 1404 built for the SSW in Jan. '79. It's not wearing the number here but is listed as the UP 1404.
5. GP38 - LLPX 2601 would like to know the history of this loco, I don't have it recorded yet.
6. GP60 - UP 2043 was built as the SP 9744 in June of '91.

LLPX #2601 was built by LLP as a GP-38-2 demonstrator, to show how one could be built reasonably from a GP-38 unit. It was built from LLPX #2027, which used to be CSX # 2143, which used to be an old L&N unit, from the 4000 series.

Thank you, I had done a bit of a search and could not find the missing link.

From Don Strack's web site at:

http://utahrails.net/all-time/modern-index.php

B&O 4039 to CSXT 6614 to UP 2516 to UP 1016.

You are correct about that my friend. That GP60 was made for SP colors. The UP scheme doesn't do it for me either.

The last 3 all have pretty similar graffiti -- looks pretty fresh.

Get your pics now of untagged locomotives ... :^( Pretty soon it won't be cost-effective to keep repainting them.

In So. Cal. if you let your car sit in one place too long, it gets a new paint job by the taggers.
