Nostalgia & History > More oldiesDate: 07/17/06 07:49 More oldies Author: SP6190 The first shot is taken over at the old UP depot in East LA. The subject is a brand new Burlington SD45 #524. Credit Bernard Levine for this shot.
The second picture was taken one Saturday when they ran several troop trains up to Camp Roberts. This is the second or third section of Train 99 that day and is all heavyweight cars except for the baggage and triple unit dinner. The third shot is train 1-831 the loaded beet train. Date: 07/17/06 07:54 Re: More oldies Author: SP6190 The first shot is the Daylight on Santa Margarita with a F7 helper set. The second is #58 the Owl at Glendale and the third is at Roseville with the 7114 coming off the North Valley line.

That is where they would cut out helpers to go back to Margarita. There was another crossover towards the west end where they would do the same thing. The siding at that time went around the corner towards the little horseshoe. In later years, it was shortened, because of the land slipping into the valley, to where the east crossovers were and a regular switch and signal put in.
The tank was supplied by a huge reservoir that is still up there above the little horseshoe, mty of course. Nudge Date: 07/17/06 14:14 Re: Serrano Author: F40PHR231 Wow, great shot of the Daylight in Portland! "Albers" and the Broadway Bridge are still there.
