Date: 07/20/06 11:58 Re: SF Chief at Stockton spring 1968 Author: drew1946 I assume you are referring to the silver overspray. That seems to be very common on ATSF warbonnet power at that thime. Even the FP45 that brought the last Chief into Richmond had that same overspray.

The Santa Fe, and I would suppose other RR's, would give a quick touch-up the pilots, sills and running gear of passenger engines as part of the turn-around process to keep them looking good for the corporate image. That actually isn't too bad compared to some I've seen. Date: 07/20/06 15:29 Re: SF Chief at Stockton spring 1968 Author: cota1992 That's a classic photograph!
Thanks for posting Art in DC Date: 07/20/06 20:47 Re: SF Chief at Stockton spring 1968 Author: ProAmtrak Great pic, and the city of Stockton sure did take good care of that passenger station

Santa Fe had a crossing watchman stationed at the crossing (shanty was in the southeast quadrant) into the late '60s.
