One of the comments on my post of Mc Cloud SD's when new was fresh painted cars. Here are some.

AMC 516 - Ogden,UT fall of '77 (car built 6-76)

MR 2114 - Tacoma,WA 6-6-77 (must have been it's first trip as it was built 6-77)

SERA 4041 Oakdale,CA 4-11-77 (blt 12-76)

One more I'd like to know more about. At the Sierra, April of 1982. I found this Wabash Valley hack.
Did this become a Sierra cab? If not what was it doing there. That was a short lived road in Indiana,
as I recall, that was operated by a division of MK.

Man, was EVERYTHING on the Wabash Valley kitbashed? Didn't they have those cool MK SD-whatevers with the DD35 long hood ends?

The plan was to re-build the 1450 caboose, and put it into service on Sierra. It was stored on "Hill One" in Oakdale yard. The local Oakdale vandals set it on fire, Halloween night, 1982, and that was the end of that!

GREAT STUFF! Love those clean MR and SERA car images. Didn't know the Amador Central had all-door cars, either. I'll take more if you got 'em! ;-)

Thanks for posting!

I recall seeing the burned caboose and wondered when the railroad was going to fence off the yard to keep the rolling stock safe.

Illinois, actually. Was a venture of M-K.

Great pix.
