I saw them being delivered to the B&O proper (as their "6900" class), Chicago, on the B&OCT, after a transfer from the IHB to the B&OCT's "Barr Yard" in Blue Island. Santa Fe units, too.

4253 is that unit's CSX number and the covered hoppers in the photo sure look like they're painted CSX as well. She looks > a mess. And I agree, she does look a mess; but if you think she looks bad, how about their passenger cars of which I have attached one for referance? Here is the last surviving "Food Bar Coach" #3000 sitting at the B&O R.R. Museum rusting away. Sad, and they will NOT paint or repair any of their few genuine B&O passenger cars. |
