SDF45 (Santa Fe's designation for a rebuilt F45) 5986 is ex 5936, nee 1936 Next is FP45 101 at the Super Fleet unveiling on July 4 1989. SDFP45 101 is ex 5992, exx 5942, nee 102 Date: 08/05/06 20:03 Re: A couple Santa Fe "Classic Cowls" Author: SuperC Still the best paint schemes ever spray painted on a locomotive!

"Santa Fe...All the way!" Date: 08/06/06 14:00 Side stanchions Author: sbgabe This is only the second photo I've seen where it appears the side stanchions are two different diameters. (upper/lower)
Was this a short-lived idea after the repaint, or just an allusion? gp Date: 08/06/06 22:08 Re: Side stanchions Author: Evan_Werkema sbgabe Wrote:

I'm seeing the same illusion on several other pictures too, see: http://atsf.railfan.net/atsfpres/sf98b.jpg http://atsf.railfan.net/atsfpres/sf90e.jpg http://atsf.railfan.net/atsfpres/sf93fhake.jpg See also several photos in _The Santa Fe Diesel Vol.2_, including the cover shot. My guess is Santa Fe reflectorized the bottom portion of the handrails, and the brighter sheen from the Scotchlite makes that part of the handrails look wider compared to the silver painted area above it. |
