Kent Date: 08/13/06 17:02 Re: San Jose 50 years ago Author: Nitehostler Boy, that's sure a nice shot. 2477 and 3251 regularly ran past our house on the Los Altos Branch, 2477 (along with sister 2476) on commutes 129/132 and 3251 on the Permanente job. Ten-Wheeler 2381 is another longtime Coast Division engine. The other 2400 class visible was a Del Monte engine, I think. Really great old SP memories here, thanks.
Tom PS I just checked some prints that John Shaw gave me & 3251 had worked to Permanente east via California Avenue just the day before. Date: 08/13/06 17:29 Re: San Jose 50 years ago Author: CarolVoss DynamicBrake Wrote:

Ken Date: 08/14/06 21:41 Re: San Jose 50 years ago Author: avogel It's enough to bring tears to my eyes. I spent a lot of time watching trains at the Lenzen crossing, real early on, with my father. And, thanks to a friendly brakeman who lived in my old neighborhood nearby, I got to run an old diesel switch engine in the College Park yard. Those were the days. Thanks for the post, on my birthday no less!
