Photos like this always make me wonder what tall tales the ol' girls are swapping back and forth on their day off. Great shot.

Lenzen Avenue never looked better....nice shot. I grew up not far away in Willow Glen, so the picture has extra meaning.

Boy, that's sure a nice shot. 2477 and 3251 regularly ran past our house on the Los Altos Branch, 2477 (along with sister 2476) on commutes 129/132 and 3251 on the Permanente job. Ten-Wheeler 2381 is another longtime Coast Division engine. The other 2400 class visible was a Del Monte engine, I think. Really great old SP memories here, thanks.

Tom

PS I just checked some prints that John Shaw gave me & 3251 had worked to Permanente east via California Avenue just the day before.

That is where I went to work for SP 61 years ago today. VJ day IIRC.

It's enough to bring tears to my eyes. I spent a lot of time watching trains at the Lenzen crossing, real early on, with my father. And, thanks to a friendly brakeman who lived in my old neighborhood nearby, I got to run an old diesel switch engine in the College Park yard. Those were the days. Thanks for the post, on my birthday no less!
