Nostalgia & History > ATSF in Franklin CanyonDate: 11/28/06 18:50 ATSF in Franklin Canyon Author: qnyla Watching the ATSF in Franklin Canyon was always interesting.
Here ATSF C30-7 8166 leads the hot 199 westbound in Franklin Canyon at Glen Frazier, CA on June 14, 1986. I assume this area is nothing but houses and asphalt now. Date: 11/28/06 18:57 Re: ATSF in Franklin Canyon Author: Evan_Werkema qnyla Wrote:

Santa Fe's last C30-7, and the last new 6-axle unit they would buy for nearly a decade. > I assume this area is nothing but houses and > asphalt now. Not really. The siding and auxiliary tracks went away in the late 90's, and the cantilever gave way to a mast-mounted searchlight around 2003, but that corner of Franklin Canyon hasn't seen much in the way of new development.
