They Would Have Looked Nice In Red!

This isn't Collinwood fellews, but rather it's the diesel pit at Waterloo, Iowa, when the CC was leasing these ex Conrail SDP-45's. I never was able to catch them on the high iron the short time they were there, but here's four of the beast at the service track awaiting their next assignment. If only the CC would have purchased these giants. Think how nice they would have looked in bright red paint!!

Ex Conrail (ex EL) SDP45's 6694-6686-6699-6690 at Waterloo, Ia. on 12-26-87

Five former Milwaukee geeps (968-981-964-966-973) get a grain train moving eastward out of Waterloo, Iowa on 11-15-87. When the CC first purchased these units, their air brakes were not compatible with the rest of their fleet. They were used in solid sets until they could be cycled through the shops and redone. Almost looks like a Milwaukee freight at first glance.

Looking at the second pic, they'd look good in orange and black too !

Saw 4 on a coal train with 110 car's way back and they didn't have it, no speed died on the hill's,Junk in need of a rebuild bad. 3 BNSF MAC's on 130 car's run faster up the same hill's now.

Nothing wrong with old school CCP Angus. I got a couple of them ex-MILW units on ex-MILW tracks in Marion back in 1992.

...yet one of the bretheren of those leased EL's was rebuilt and repainted and was the big haul pride of WC just up until CN purchased WC.
