They were very tight up there, specially with a bit of 'Gut' in the way. Jim Baker Date: 12/01/06 12:40 Re: In the office.... Author: ButteStBrakeman mococomike Wrote:

You were still the best to ever work for. And believe me, you were one I could count on... I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the "good guys" in Mojave, and you know which were which! I can't come up with a better answer, but if I'm not mistaken, SW1500 and up were the only EMD switchers with numberboards on the front of the cab, and besides, an NW2's extra high arched top windows wouldn't even allow this. What's also odd, is the ladder mounted to the front of the cab.(?) A low hood can be seen behind the ladder. I'm wondering if this #1941 is a pre-1965 number (NW2 #1941 was a post-1965 number.). I can't find anything numbered in this series prior to 1965. I'm stumped. SLOCONDR, do you remember what it was? Mark Date: 12/02/06 04:29 Re: In the office.... Author: topper mwbridgwater Wrote:

A number of NW2s received train indicators mounted in this position. Other units had their's mounted ahead of the forward exhaust stack. The majority, however, never received indicators at all. > What's also odd, is the ladder mounted to > the front of the cab.(?) So you can get to the indicators. > A low hood can be seen behind the ladder. That's correct. The main generator is under it. > I'm wondering if this #1941 is > a pre-1965 number (NW2 #1941 was a post-1965 > number.). I can't find anything numbered in this > series prior to 1965. I'm stumped. 1941's pre-1965 number was the 1413. Date: 12/02/06 10:05 Re: In the office.... Author: mwbridgwater Wow... thanks. Anyone have a full-view photo of an SP NW2 with this installation? (Most of my SP annuals, etc. are boxed away at the moment.).

(Most of my SP > annuals, etc. are boxed away at the moment.). There's a photo of the 1413 - it became the 1941 - on page 27 of the 1977 SPMPA, and a photo of the 1932 on page 38 of the 1971 SPMPA. As an aside, Cotton Belt's last order of SW1200s came with their indicators mounted above the center windows. Date: 12/02/06 22:10 Re: In the office.... Author: mwbridgwater Thanks, topper.
