C&NW years of E2 #LA1
Author: mwbridgwater

As an SP fan, I've been aware most of my life of the history of EMC E2 #SF1, the 1937-built lead unit for the "City of San Francisco". Upon the breakup of the 6 jointly owned E2As and Bs, SF1 went to SP and became 6017, eventually rebuilt as an E7 model. I just recently took note of the fact that LA1 (SF1's twin, but lead unit for the "City of Los Angeles") went to the Chicago and Northwestern (All 4 B-units went to UP), and this got me to wondering about it's life in later years with C&NW. Any one have a retired, scrap, trade-in, or rebuilt date? Service assignments with C&NW? Photo in C&NW paint? New C&NW number?

Thanks,
Mark

Have not seen Sy Reich's name in eons. Is he still with us? Fondly recall his columns in the old RAILROAD magazine. Thanks.

Dunno.

I guess I should have said, "according to Sy Reich's roster book" instead.
