Nostalgia & History > PRR/PC Locomotive QuestionDate: 02/06/07 07:53 PRR/PC Locomotive Question Author: Nictd1000 What was the last locomotive delivered in PRR Paint..(I think it may have been a SD-45) Also, what was the first locomotive delivered in PC paint?
Thanks in advance, Ryan Date: 02/06/07 07:58 Re: PRR/PC Locomotive Question Author: Gateway97 According to Al Staufer's book Pennsy Power from the late '60's, the U33C's were first in PC paint. Ordered by Pennsy before the merger but delivered just after. I think the SD45's may have been the last new units, but I am not sure.

Merger day was Feb. 1, 1968. SD40 6072 was repainted PC for ceremonies and publicity on that day. (Penn Central Power by R. J. Yanosey, pages 12 & 142) U33C's 6540-6559 ordered by PRR were the first new units delivered painted for PC, starting in Feb. 1968. (photo of PC 6540 on 2-17-68 in Penn Central Power, page 163) PRR SD45's 6200-6234 were new in January 1968. According to the book Penn Central System Bi-Annual by Robert H. Reid, the 6207 was the last new unit painted PRR. The last new NYC units were the C430's in December 1967. Ryan Date: 02/06/07 21:36 Re: PRR/PC Locomotive Question Author: Nictd1000 A quick search revealed that PRR/PC 6072 was wrecked..no info on where or when. Alco, PRR/PC/Cr 6207 (SD-45) seems to have dropped off the face of the planet as well..
