The patch on the should is similar to the 20th Air Force but I cannot see it very well.

Need to question those passengers in case any of them saw Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurry throw the body off the train...

This looks like one of Hatrick's annual Pearl Harbor Day remembrance specials between LAX-SAN.

Bob was right, one of Hatrick's Pearl Harbor Day trips. I had opportunity to get in on the photo's being taken that day. The trips are a blast ... if you like streamliner era passenger trains. Besides the crew (in period garb), they have re-enactors aboard in costume to "dress the set" as Hatrick says.
