Nostalgia & History > Rio Grande in Permanente

The "Permanente Local" heads into the late afternoon sun at Permanente, California with a pair of Rio Grande GP40's in February of 1997. The pair was doubling the hill this day because the train was too heavy to go up as one consist.

Nice shots Sam,

I think a slide show on the Permaente Branch from old days to present would be interesting.
I've seen many changes from motive power to when there were more spur tracks and such.
Maybe we'll see it some day. I guess it's a litle too late, but were you at Winterail?
I can't remember if you had said you were going or not.

I think doing a slide show on the Perm over the years would be great. Certainly there are enough of you guys with a big enough collection that sometime good could be put together.
