Nostalgia & History > Howard Fogg at his BestDate: 03/17/07 02:45 Howard Fogg at his Best Author: jmw I submit a 1950 Alco advertisement featuring a Howard Fogg painting of MP #309.
I'd been trying for a couple of years to get this ad and finally lucked out. JMW http://www.waidephoto.com Date: 03/17/07 05:08 Re: Howard Fogg at his Best Author: Red Yes--I would say that's Howard Fogg at his best!!! I'm drooling...

JMW http://www.waidephoto.com Date: 03/18/07 01:34 Re: Howard Fogg at his Best Author: NebraskaZephyr The RI painting has an interesting history. It was retouched and "recycled" several times (whether by Fogg or by a nameless photo/litho tech I don't recall) for different railroad projects.
You can find variations with two different engine numbers, with and without a microwave relay tower in the background. I think the version with the relay tower also had the pole line removed. Anyone even slightly interested in Fogg or railroad PR paintings needs to pick up HOWARD FOGG AND THE DIESEL IMAGE, published by Weekend Chief. Out of print, but likely available at railroadiana shows and on ebay. NZ |
