Nostalgia & History > SP's "Puff and Huff", in Niles Canyon......Date: 05/13/07 19:00 SP's "Puff and Huff", in Niles Canyon...... Author: ATSF100WEST The famous Peninsula diesel duo hustles towards Niles Tower through the canyon of the same name, in January, 1976, with an East Pleasanton Turn in tow. If these were any cleaner, you could use them as dinnerware!
Thanks for looking, Bob ATSF100WEST......Out Date: 05/13/07 20:18 Re: SP's "Puff and Huff", in Niles Canyon...... Author: Steamjocky Boy, I sure miss the sound of a 567 in run 8 going up the hill. Sweet, sweet, sweet.

Date: 05/13/07 21:24 Re: SP's "Puff and Huff", in Niles Canyon...... Author: fjc That's what I enjoyed about running those work trains over here on Caltrain, pure 567's in the GP9's with that gritty non turbo sound, guess the MP15's had the non turbo 645's. Still nice to have a set of power on a train that you could actually tell was doing something when you cracked the throttle, instead of a loud whine from the turbo equipped power, I've always been the type to run with the window open at all times to hear what the engine was doing performance wise.
That sure was a great image Bob posted, sure wish I was a railroader 20yrs earlier. So how have things been with you these days?
