Centennials On The WP? (New Photo)
Author: mojaveflyer

In the last days of the Centennial units on the UP, they had some interesting assignments... Here's one leading a Z Train westbound on the former WP main approaching Sand Pass, NV, (between Winnemucca, CA and Portola, CA)shot on Ektachrome 400 with a Mamiya 645 camera.

Ok... A larger photo was attached so it should be easier to see if you want to open it. Thanks for looking!

A little more recently along the WP. December 2004. UP 6936 and 6946 share a little sandhouse talk at the WP Diesel Shop in Portola, now home to the Western Pacific RR Museum.

I note something interesting in your 1st photograph. Look at the two lighted number boards on the locomotive cab. There is definitely two different number styles. I can only surmise that at some time one of them was damaged and replaced with one that does not match the other. Any comment?
