Nostalgia & History > A Couple From SP in San JoseDate: 05/24/07 20:57 A Couple From SP in San Jose Author: mojaveflyer From a summer spent riding my bicycle down to the San Jose Roundhouse and Passenger Station in 1967(?)...
Photo #1- SP 7101, former Alco 628 demo, sits on the service track in San Jose at the Lenzen Street Roundhouse. Photo #2- The Daylight sits at the San Jose passenger station on a sunny summer morning with three F's on the point. Sorry these shots aren't bigger but they're scanned from 35mm slides. Thanks for looking again! Date: 05/24/07 21:45 Re: A Couple From SP in San Jose Author: john1082 Did the SP ever contemplate having steam generators places in the SG "room" aboard the C-628?
Date: 05/25/07 07:22 Re: A Couple From SP in San Jose Author: Lone Star The SP had no intentions of ever using the C-628s in passenger service. They had enough trouble just keeing the junkers running in freight service. The 7101, by the way, is the only one of the 4 ex-demos that I have seen in the patched scheme with a post-1965 number.
