Just another Warbonnet day in Cajon Pass - 1994
Author: PasadenaSub

Here's three from November 20, 1994 over a couple-hour span near Cajon Station. At the time, strings of red & silver GP60M, B40-8W, C40-8W, and the new C44-9W locomotives were a common sight leading Santa Fe intermodal trains through the Pass. I had gotten used to it, and thought the now resurgent Warbonnet (and the Santa Fe) would last another decade - if not longer.

1) Two-month old C44-9W 692 leads three B40-8W's with a westbound at Cajon.

2) A quartet of B40-8W's near the Cajon Campground area with another westbound.

3) An eastbound stack train on the north track at Cajon heading for Sullivan's curve, led by C40-8W 890.

Rich, well done! Those were great times for photographing Warbonnets. I was at Cajon on the 19th.

I will never understand how anyone could abandon the best-known railroad name and locomotive paint scheme... How do you pronounce "BNSF?" No wonder the general public has no identity with railroading - did anyone of these people ever study marketing?

How much does it cost to repaint a locomotive?

I'll send BNSF a check if they'll give me one good, clean, bright Warbonnet out there.
