Nostalgia & History > An SP Thanksgiving from 1951Date: 11/21/07 18:14 An SP Thanksgiving from 1951 Author: dmaffei On the cover of the November 1951 SP Bulletin is chef David Lowe, taken at west Oakland commissary. This is the second time Dave made the cover of the Bulletin. Last time was in 1945.
Bet the SP Turkey tasted much better than the one Mom used to Make... Happy Thanksgiving all. (Even You Bob) Dave Date: 11/21/07 18:18 Re: An SP Thanksgiving from 1951 Author: eljay this is one fine post! eljay

Yardclerk Date: 11/23/07 07:39 Re: An SP Thanksgiving from 1951 Author: Gateway97 I think this is a great photo- chef with a winning smile ( he looks like one of those folks who really likes his vocation ) , and a BIG turkey- or is it? I kept looking at that turkey and thinking " Dang, Andre the Giant-style turkey!" I think we have some forced perspective being used here. The turkey is really in the foreground and Chef Dave is standing well back from the bird. RR modelers who like to photograph outdoor scenes as backgrounds to modules that they have built will use forced perspective. My vote for best Thanksgiving photo!
