On display and in steam, we have USATC S-160 No. 612. It would be 18 years and a half world away before I would see this type of locomotive in daily service, and in a Communist country, no less! They worked the open pit mine at Fushun, China and the yards in Shanghai. Interestingly, the Shanghai locomotives still had their American Baldwin and Lima builders plates. Does anyone know if USATC 612 was brought out from Fort Eustis, Virginia, or was it from the Tooele Army Depot? Cheers, Jack Date: 01/09/08 19:21 Re: Let's not forget the U.S. Army's contribution to . Author: spnudge I was the hoghead on the 606 & 612 from 67 thru 69 at Ft. Eustis. Coal burning, hand fired. I was in "C" Co., 714th, TBROS&DE
