Date: 06/08/08 15:16 Re: 4449 where and when? Author: jdb 84 may be right. My shots of it in 89 don't have the extra tender. On one of the trips south it was bad ordered somewhere in the Bay Area and didn't go south with the train. It was sent south in a freight train later to catch up.

Date: 06/08/08 16:29 Re: 4449 where and when? Author: jdb OK, I got it May 8, 84 northbound through Santa Clara with the extra tender and at least a 12 car, all Daylight consist. My May 89 on Cuesta is withouth the extra tender and only a six car consist with at least one open end business car. Can't find my shot of the tender going south at Bernal Road in a freight.

Date: 06/08/08 17:36 Re: 4449 where and when? Author: wjpyper May 1984 is the correct answer. SLO had a "Railroad Days" celebration that year. It visited again in May 1994, when SLO held a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the completion of the SP over Cuesta Grade.

Author: choochoocharlie I am probably somewhere in that crowd in SLO. Started following it from Garnet and all the way back to Portland. My wife even came along and enjoyed the trip. She doesn't want to chase diesels though. Steam is OK. Date was June 19, 1984.
