Nostalgia & History > Missabe MondayDate: 09/08/08 11:15 Missabe Monday Author: DMIR230 How about some Missabe photos for a Monday. These were taken in 2005 about a month before the CN was taking over. This was also the last time that I was up in Missabe country.

That is what the crews called a Fred Bed, a place to store the rear end device. DMIR230 Date: 09/09/08 07:00 Re: Missabe Monday Author: NormSchultze Those were the days, my friends
We thouth they'd never end..... Sigh Date: 09/09/08 08:37 Re: Missabe Monday Author: soolinehoghead A little location help for you fellas, if I may.
JB.... Your shot is actually at the tiny hamlet of Culver, MN. Appears to be taken from the little "perch" that the crossing signal bungalow sits on. Train is a S/B load of Blast Furnace Trim out of Minntac bound for Duluth. Uncle Joe..... Your shot #1 is a S/B load rounding the curve at Iron Jct, most likely bound for Duluth as well. Shot #2 is a loaded T-Bird crude ore train just entering the plant at Eveleth Taconite, which would technically be in Forbes, MN. Hope that helps. Soo Line Hoghead |
