Nostalgia & History > Reading W&N JunctionDate: 09/25/08 11:48 Reading W&N Junction Author: hogr Signal Bridge that spanned at one time four main tracks where Reading W&N Branch joined the Phila. to Reading, Pa main line was taken down on 09-23-08 by NS. Used as a photo prop by many a Reading photographer, see Reading Diesels, Volume 2, page 142 photo by Dave Augsburger. This was the westbound interlocking signal that controled the W&N branch from Wilmington,De. entering the main, crossovers to #2 and #1 track, and a westbound siding. I have a lot of nostalgia for this area as I grew up within walking distance and witnessed the passing of many Reading and then Conrail trains. Myself and a friend actually climbed up on the signal many years ago to get some smoke when one of the Readings " Iron Horse Rambles" with T1 2124 blasted through in the fall of 59 or 60. I wish I had a picture of that to post but I was only 12 at the time.
