Nostalgia & History > UP train crews -- the City and a TurbineDate: 02/14/09 12:36 UP train crews -- the City and a Turbine Author: Copy19 I always enjoy pictures of train crews and these two are classics. The passenger train picture was for an ad to show how many people it took to man a domeliner. The other is a shot of the crew on a gas turbine powered train in 1952. Those were the days!

but back a little more. Are there any more pictures like it? Date: 02/14/09 16:21 Re: UP train crews -- the City and a Turbine Author: Waybiller Really neat photos.
If I interpret it correctly, the City was staffed as follows: 1 Conductor 3 Head end crew (engineer, fireman, head man) 2 brakemen/trainmen 1 dining car steward 4 cooks 8 waiters 1 Pullman conductor 7 porters 1 cafe lounge steward 3 cooks 3 waiters 34 people in total. the V&T 4-4-0, now there's a train to go fan. Date: 02/14/09 18:55 Re: UP train crews -- the City and a Turbine Author: Copy19 rehunn Wrote:

I have that. I sent it to John Signor who used it in the latest issue of Streamliner, the Union Pacific Historical Society Magazine. It's a great article with lots of pix. You can see the whole film of that on the Pentrex video Up passenger trains. I think it was a publicity film for there City Of LA Train filmed in 58. Samuel Howard Centennial, CO Train Room Photography Date: 02/15/09 06:03 Re: UP train crews -- the City and a Turbine Author: Copy19 rpobill Wrote:
