Nostalgia & History > Santa Fe from the 1940s and 1950sDate: 03/17/09 07:14 Santa Fe from the 1940s and 1950s Author: yardclerk Two more photos from my hobby shop.
1. ATSF Doodlebug outbound from Dearborn Station on August 17, 1946. Photo taken from Roosevelt Road according to note on back of photo. 2. ATSF 5016 at the roundhouse. I believe this photo was taken at Waynoka Ok. IIRC, the Santa Fe turned the 2-10-4s back west at Waynoka. Correct me if this is wrong. Appreciate any information anyone might have concerning these photos. Yardclerk Date: 03/17/09 09:20 Re: Santa Fe from the 1940s and 1950s Author: GPutz Yardclerk, Thanks for these great images. The doodlebug in the first image was in-bound, I think. Where was it coming from, though? AT&SF didn't have any branch lines near Chicago. Did AT&SF have a local passenger train between Chicago and Joliet, Galesburg, or Peoria? Gerry
Evan, Thanks for the info. Gerry Date: 03/17/09 13:06 Re: Santa Fe from the 1940s and 1950s Author: Evan_Werkema GPutz Wrote:

Sure they did - the Pekin branch from Ancona to Pekin, IL. It had a motor schedule based out of Dearborn, which is probably the train pictured. Have to dig out The Doodlebugs for the specifics. I often wondered where it came from.
