Love that last shot, thanks for sharing! I can almost feel the vaccum as the trains rush past each other.

Is it just me, or does that ATSF F unit really look like it's grinning?

Best regards,

Rob L.

I'm inclined to say the photographer is riding a westbound between Texico and Clovis, NM, meeting an eastbound in that last photo. There used to be a wide signal bridge/cantilever set in that stretch up until the 90's, about 2 miles west of Texico, east of Airport Rd.

Where was the first one, Bob? Just east of Oakley, CA looking toward Knightsen?

Thank you for the kind words, Rob, and Evan, likewise for the location of the meet.

Regarding the Amtrak, Evan, I've got a brain cramp on the actual location, but I can tell you this - pretty sure it is south of Escalon and north of Madera!

Good detailed info there, yes sir!

Take Care,

Bob

I liked it when steam was grand on the Grans Trunk Wester.

I don't know where this is, but it's definatly pre-1960. Santa Fe was one of the last roads to install "eyebrow" grabirons above the windshields and didn't completly have the job done (in order to comply with Federal ruling) until 1960, or so.
