There used to be a wide signal bridge/cantilever set in that stretch up until the 90's, about 2 miles west of Texico, east of Airport Rd.

Regarding the Amtrak, Evan, I've got a brain cramp on the actual location, but I can tell you this - pretty sure it is south of Escalon and north of Madera! Good detailed info there, yes sir! Santa Fe was one of the last roads to install "eyebrow" grabirons above the windshields and didn't completly have the job done (in order to comply with Federal ruling) until 1960, or so.
