Nostalgia & History > Haworth NJ During Early ConrailDate: 09/24/09 19:51 Haworth NJ During Early Conrail Author: erielackawanna One of the most fun places to hang out in the late 1970s was Haworth NJ on Conrail's River Line (which many of us still called the West Shore back then). Thought I'd share a selection of shots from back then for you early Conrail fans.
First shot is Christmas Eve, December 24, 1977... VE1A heads south. Next image was October 21, 1978 of a TV16A. Then, on November 12, 1978, we see a SEEN1 behind one of the 1900 series B23-7s, which broke our hearts (taking the 1900 series from the F units). If so its one of 5 of the ex PC/PRR units and justas good as perhaps one of the F7 units. Just my opinion. Nice shots. Ben. (BTW the ex PC/PRR U30C's were 6535-6539)

I think the West Shore was two tracks north of the Dumont layover yard, and three or four tracks south of there. It's been a long time, so my memory may be foggy... Date: 09/25/09 07:23 Re: Haworth NJ During Early Conrail Author: erielackawanna I think you're right, Ray...
And Lackawanna, you're also right regarding the original track layout. I believe it was four tracks up to Dumont and two north of there. By the time I was aware of things it was two tracks into Dumont and one north of there. |
