Nostalgia & History > MoP AustinDate: 10/05/09 08:50 MoP Austin Author: xtra1188w Here are a couple I just found and scanned recently of MoP Austin. The second image shows Bill Hanson who was the 2nd trick operator at MoP Austin in those days. Bill was a dispatcher for UP in Omaha when he had to retire due to a health issue a few years ago. Bill passed away a year ago in September 2008, he was a good conscientious railroader both professionally and as a railfan. Bill was also a good friend of mine.

Thank you for posting this. I had the pleasure of meeting Bill Hanson at an impromptu slide show at a friend's house in Manhattan, KS. He was a very nice man and as I remember, he loved the Missouri Pacific. He was a dispatcher for the UP when I met him. As the lyrics of the old song goes, " Only the good die young". Thanks again.
