C&NW Special 1986 follow-up: Glenwood Springs
Author: valmont

A recent post had a terrific shot of what has to be this same C&NW business special .... and someone mentioned Glenwood Springs ...it did traverse the D&RGW in CO, here it is at Glenwood Springs on Aug. 7, 1986, with a Rio Grande freight about to run around it. Didn't see C&NW F units there, however, so if they were in Glenwood, we missed 'em.

If it was I'm pretty sure it wasn't my shot, as I don't remember sending it to PN .... there were others that shot the train that day so it's possible that someone else sent a shot to PN

The one on the cover was Amtrak 6 passing the Special at Glenwood.

Believe the Amtrak California Zephyr passing the C&NW 7000 East was mine - Pacific Rail News cover was mine. Rare opportunity. The Association of American Railroads hosted the trip for senior operating officers of the AAR member railroads - annual trip of the "operating-transportation" committee.

Enjoyed valmont's post.

Knew it was you. For a moment, I thought it was Steve Patterson or RC farewell.
