Early Reading & Northern

Back when the Blue Mountain Reading & Northern ran out of Temple, PA. Over the former Pennsylvania RR. Schuylkill Division. Now that line is used for idle car storage.

I remember seeing that van painted in the Pennsy pinstripes around alot during the late to mid 80's along the BM&R (my dad was a trainman, brakeman, and eventually a conductor for the BM&R up until probably 1994 or 1995 while I was in the Air Force).

There was also a van painted to look like a Reading FP7.

What ever happened to those? Anyone know who owned them? Were they TO members?

I wish I knew. If memory serves, I believe the Reading painted van was a Dodge.

I don't think that they are physically running. I thought that they both were in storage
and one of them was worse off than the other rusting away. Use the search as there was a topic on both units sometime back.

Didn't the other go to the St. Louis Rail Museum?

Wow, a hood mounted headlight and grab-'arns on the side! And the running lights have numberboards, waaaay cool. I wonder if he had a steering wheel or a throttle (or even if it was right-hand drive);-) Show up at a railfan event in that thing and you'd be as popular as Pam Anderson in a wet T-shirt contest.
