Early morning coal - La Crosse WI

Back in the mid 1980s before the Soo Line take over, many of the coal trains bound for Portage WI had Milwaukee Road units on point. Such as this morning when the #140 led the #150 and one other. Running wrong main for reasons long forgotten, the conductor stands on the rear platform of the BN #10309 waiting to snag the orders at the Grand Crossing Tower.

Nikon Cool Scan V is the best! thats what I use for all my old slides.
