Check out the retired San Francisco Muni trolley coaches on flats in the background of the 1254 Fresno shot. Looks like St. Louis Car or Marmon-Herrington?

Did you happen to get any better pictures of the Trolley Coaches.
That are in the background of #1254?

The SD38/slug/SD38 consist could couple up to the whole yard and drag it anywhere, I bet. Or pull out drawbars like they were made of cardboard.

The trolley coaches were GE equipped Marmon-Herringtons enroute to Mexico City. Virtually all of the GE Marmons and St. Louis' were sold to Mexico in 1977. The Westinghouse Marmons and Twins were scrapped in the Bay Area, with the exception of Fageol Twin 614, which is now at the Illinois Railway Museum.

Yes they could.

Way back when I pulled a cut of about 9000 tons with 5 hand brakes on the east end from Pepper Ave. up to Sierra Ave. (which is basically from the east end of the yard to the west end of the yard which is about 5 miles in length) to couple to another cut that was in the receiving yard for humping. We didn't go very fast (about 5 or 6 miles an hour) but those engines didn't slip a bit. They did exactly what they were designed to do. I wasn't sure if we were going to make it as it is a fairly steep ascending grade all the way but we did.

Perfect. Thanks for the supplemental image file!
