Nostalgia & History > Switcher Saturday - SP HalloweenDate: 02/05/11 11:40 Switcher Saturday - SP Halloween Author: 90mac Seen passing the PE Lynwood Depot is SP NW-2 #1421 in the short lived Halloween paint scheme, shot in 1958.
I love the long string of PFE iced reefers and boxcars in tow. No double stacks on this day, just classic Railroading in vintage style. 90mac Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/05/11 11:44 by 90mac. JB Date: 02/06/11 13:59 Re: Switcher Saturday - SP Halloween Author: YankeeDog Is this the Lynwood station on the ex-PE line to Santa Ana? If so that is Long Beach Blvd in the foreground.

Speaking of the Lynwood depot, have you ever heard the story of all of the PE switch keys being buried next to the RoW at the Bellflower depot? I understand that several boxes of those switch keys were buried shortly after April of 1965. Jarrett Date: 02/06/11 21:22 Re: Switcher Saturday - SP Halloween Author: 90mac No, that story escaped me.
Guess I will have to get a metal detecter. That's the story I have been told several times John. V SLOCONDR |
