B.N. Coal Empties under a Wyoming Sky

Burlington Northern 7814, 7085 and Kansas City Southern 657, 660 and 667 head Westbound near Rozet, Wyoming in June of 1985 with a empty coal train consisting of KCS cars headed to the Powder River Basin. Just one out of the parade of Westbounds this day, the next trains headlight can already be seen coming over the ridge behind!

Great photo! Its interesting to think how much has changed since this photo was taken. DC vs AC power. All power online vs fuel conservation. Steel hoppers vs aluminum. Single track vs double.
