Nostalgia & History > When GP60M's were the pride of the fleetDate: 06/22/11 21:24 When GP60M's were the pride of the fleet Author: oyw Twenty one years has passed since Santa Fe GP60M 130 made its way through Devore, CA on a hazy Sunday morning in July of 1990. Barely a month old, the classy red and silver trio powers the hot Chicago to LA 198 train, a typical assignment for which they were purchased. This area was a favorite for summer morning photography until construction of a massive Fed-Ex complex totally eliminated access to the tracks. Fortunately there are still plenty of other shots left, thanks for looking back.

Thanks for sharing the picture. (And, thanks to Mike Haverty for bringing back the 'Bonnet scheme.) Date: 06/23/11 09:02 Re: When GP60M's were the pride of the fleet Author: SP8595 Great scan of a nice picture (maybe you should get in the slide scanning business!)
Date: 06/23/11 09:26 Re: When GP60M's were the pride of the fleet Author: bradleymckay Mr. "OYW" and I spent many a morning at that spot over the years until that warehouse complex was built. We always wondered why some fans insisted on taking photos by the road crossing at Devore when this location was "THE morning shot" in that area. His posted photo proves that point.

Date: 06/24/11 00:53 Re: When GP60M's were the pride of the fleet Author: Fizzboy7 Didn't see too many solid sets of these west of San Berdo. Read a long time ago they slipped too much over the hills and so the Dash-8's were the ones which headed to the Bay Area. Confirm?
