This picture was taken in Carmine Texas. Carmine was the 2nd town east of Giddings on the old T&NO (SP of Texas) line to Hempstead. My truck was sitting right atop of the former mainline grade. The structure that I'd parked next to was the old unmanned LCL freight station at Carmine. Someone told me once upon a time there was a huge chicken agricultural business in the Carmine area and that there were a lot of eggs shipped from here. The year of this picture was July 1981, and it hadn't been too many years before when this section of railroad was abandoned east of Giddings. The parallel highway thru Carmine is US-290.
