I did a Keyword search on the Denver Public Library digital website for Railroad Ward, Nevada and got 6 items. One of the photos from this search is below.

Not exactly, but you are probably correct that they were the same day.

The engine on the right in Flynns original post is, as is the left hand engine, one of the Cripple Creeks 2-6-2's. In the picture you submitted the engine on the high line to the left is a 2-8-0. I would be willing to believe that the engine on the 2nd from the right track and its consist is the same.

The cars on the highest (fifth track from the right) have been removed in the second pic, but the cars in the right middle distant are the same.

IIRC the initials on those 2-6-2's were CS&CC(D) Ry! Yes, the parenthesis was actually lettered on the tender!

Perhaps, Mr Flynn could enlarge on the tenders of the 2-6-2's to verify.

Denver Library call number Z-5646. Ward Kimball's Grizzly Flats RR in 1941.

Not bad for a backyard model RR in San Gabriel Ca.
There is a good chance that the guy in the baggy pants about in the center of the image (just between the tender and car) with his back to the camera is Walt Disney.

Gosh, look at those cuffs on those jean pants! I remember when I had to wear mine like that as a kid. Never thought a thing about it then as it was the norm. Guess either Levi and Lee didn't make the various leg lengths as nowadays or our parents thought we were going to grow like weeds before we wore them out. At least for the smokers of that era, they'd had plenty of space for cigarette ashes, as I recall often seeing these deposited in that location when inside a building and no ashtrays being in existence.
