JB Date: 09/06/11 16:36 Re: Incident at Verdugo Author: africansteam Wow! Perfectly center punched the boxcar door. Amazing, Margaret!
Cheers, Jack Date: 09/06/11 16:40 Re: Incident at Verdugo Author: BobP #1 looks like 1940's. Right side shadow looks like shadow of vertical wig-wag in photo 2
#2. Date: 09/06/11 19:08 Re: Incident at Verdugo Author: 90mac Verdugo Avenue is where the old SP Burbank Depot was, it's now the Southern end of Metrolink's Burbank Station parking lot.
That is the Depot where the W/B Daylight is standing I believe. 90mac Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/06/11 19:12 by 90mac. Date: 09/06/11 20:14 Re: Incident at Verdugo Author: nomosantafe engine3420 Wrote:

As a "car guy" who owns a 48 Chev Coupe and a 50 Chev PU - "these hurt". That coupe would be one valuable car today. The second on looks like a 34 or 35 Chev sedan. Trains and old cars, what more could a guy want? Thanks for sharing! Nomosantafe Fort Worth, Texas "Where the West Begins" Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/06/11 20:15 by nomosantafe. This one's a keeper.
Date: 09/07/11 07:25 Re: Incident at Verdugo Author: KevinLA That Jergens factory was there until the 1990s, I believe.
This crossing was closed off long before that. Date: 09/07/11 09:19 Re: Incident at Verdugo Author: cewherry Looking carefully at the box car in the second photo, the "Handle With Care" placard had to be tacked up there
by a really tall mudhop. Probably could only be done at a loading dock. Wouldn't happen today; not safe. Charlie Date: 09/07/11 13:31 Re: Incident at Verdugo Author: 567Chant I find it curious that the wig-wag has an additional bell mounted on the standard.
...Lorenzo Date: 09/07/11 17:18 Re: Incident at Verdugo Author: rev66vette Police evidence rooms all over the country are filled with long forgotten photos such as these........too bad they are that accessible.....nice find.
Date: 09/07/11 22:18 Re: Incident at Verdugo Author: JimBaker Could that extra bell be a Clatter Gong?
Wow, what a racket!! Jim Baker |
