Nostalgia & History > Key System to the MOLE...Date: 10/09/11 07:49 Key System to the MOLE... Author: KeyRouteKen Here is an old photo from John Harder depicting coach # 1317 on Route 60 of the Key System Transit Lines about to depart SP's "Oakland Mole" for the trip downtown.
The building directly behind the left rear of the bus is the "Pumphouse" that supplied water, air, steam, and oil for steam engines, ferries, passenger trains, offices, bakery, restaurant, and so forth.. Also the entire fire alarm system for the Pier and West Oakland Yard including distribution of high pressure water hydrants for fire protection for all SP facilities in West Oakland.
