Southern California Whereizit? Clue #1
Author: 90mac

This might be hard or it might be easy, I'm not sure which but I have 4 images that I took this morning as clues.
If it's too hard to solve I will post another clue.
It's just sad to see this once busy piece of track abandoned and the jobs that were there gone.
Good luck.

I'm going to say it was one of the tracks into the old GM auto plant in Van Nuys (Gemco).

Sorry Allen, it's not GEMCO.

BINGO!!! EL got it.
I went there today to see if the SP concrete corner marker was still there on Lassen Street and I found that its is still there, then I went to the former LA Times and this is what I found.
Very sad.

You,my friend win my undying gratitude for being the smartest and the first TO member to get the correct answer.
And you have the personal satisfaction of knowing the same.
Thank you for playing.
BTW: I also use the phrase "industrial archeology" to describe what I do in cases such as this.

Pic #1 was a good spot to watch brush fires burn near Oat Mountain.
Cool shots!

Correction. The location is Prairie Street. Between Plummer and Nordhoff St.

Lassen St doesn't cross the Main Line untill you reach Chatsworths.

The one spot with the SP Sign. Is on Plummer St at Winnetka Ave.

Looks like someone stole the points off that switch. Are they that valuable?

Many, many good times spent at the "Times"! Sad to see it like this now, very sad.

I remember dropping off the end of that spur a couple of times in my career...When we had a "full spot" with a full pull of empties (I believe it was 6X6) there was about six feet of track left in front of the engines...We usually operated from the second unit, with long nose forward (2 SW1500s). There was no bumper, no ties, no dirt pile, no stop sign, no nothing...To make matters worse, you would lose site of the end of the track, and there was nobody on the point to help you out. The regular crews knew they had to stop you just barely over the switchpoints, but if you had an extra brakeman...good luck! I finally found a big rock to use as a "landmark" and set it next to the rail just outside the window on the engineers side. As soon as I pulled up beside that rock, I knew we were over the switch, and if I hadn't heard "that'll do". I would stop. I then got on the radio and asked if we were over the switch, and would get a response..."oh yeah, that'll do...I was checking my list" 'Thanks a lot a@!#hole!!!'
