Nostalgia & History > American Freedom Train Photographer passes away.Date: 03/22/12 21:06 American Freedom Train Photographer passes away. Author: weather Robert Skillman, 59 of Baltimore, Maryland has passed away from a heart attack at the too early age of 59. He was on the Assignment desk at WMAR-TV when he died. He is best know as the Official Photographer for the American Freedom Train in 1975 and 1976 and was an official crew member. His passing comes at a particular poignant time because this is the 35th anniversary of the American Freedom Train. Its annual convention will be held here in the Bay Area in the third week of April. Here is a link the obituary in the local paper: http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2012-03-17/news/bs-md-ob-bob-skillman-20120316_1_wmar-news-anchor-wmar-tv-mary-beth-marsden ---Mike Pechner--

The former Reading T-1 2101 which pulled the American Freedom Train here in the east is sitting outside of the B&O R.R. Museum rusting away. Yes, rusting away as the folks that operate the museum will not allow anyone to repaint it. It looks horrible to say the least and the management of the museum does not seem to care.
