Back in March of 1969, the 914A was leading a Highline train at James, Ca. This train picked up interchange traffic from the Great Northern at Bieber, Ca. and forwarded it to the Santa Fe at Stockton.

Of all the "Flags" that fell during the era of my being theoretically around to have visited them, the Western Pacific is near the top of my list. It was simply "A Bridge Too Far" for a Michigan boy back then. Beautiful picture; shows exactly why I wish I could have gotten there.
