Nostalgia & History > Advance to the rearDate: 11/14/12 22:30 Advance to the rear Author: choochoocharlie Also the name of a 1960s movie, but in this case it refers to more SP train ends.
1 - The end of an Eastbound train leaving Santa Barbara just past the end of double track. The train was led by three GE U33Cs #8721, 8743 and 8784 on September 8th, 1974. 2 - SP caboose #4019 on an empty reefer train headed West led by SD45 #8968 with U25B #6704 and GP30 #5005. The train has just passed the Santa Barbara station and is crossing Montecito St. in the photo. Taken September 14th, 1974. 3 - This last photo shows caboose #1792 on the end of a Westbound SP train at Seacliff passing a work train. The self-powered diesel crane will head East to drop off a replacement concrete short bridge for a culvert a few miles East of Seacliff. That is the highway 101 overpass that they are going under in the photo which was taken October 11th, 1974. C.C.Chas. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/14/12 22:32 by choochoocharlie.
