1 - SP SD45 rebuild #7559 leads the LABRF into Eugene past the Eugene SP station with #7448, 9108, 7465, 9265, 9247, 8340, 9381, 9400 and 9250 making up the rest of the power consist. Photo taken on Kodachrome 64 on February 9th, 1986.
2 - This is the SP rebuilt SD9 #4354 in fresh paint with 8506, 7329, 9098 (before getting its Kodachrome paint job), 9282, 7489, 9234 and 9295, which was the lead unit on the Eastbound train when it came into the Eugene yard. This photo shows the units cutoff from their train and about to go onto the service track lead. The vehicle in the foreground/right is one of the Eugene carmans carts that were used to work on the trains in the yard. They were not normally seen at this end of the yard. Photo taken on Kodachrome 64 on March 3rd, 1986.
3 - SP rebuilt SD( #4363 with sister 4313 wait in the yard on the head end of the Yoncalla Turn as #8504, 8368 and 7413 depart the yard on the main with a Westbound train. (SP directions) Part of the West end herders shanty is seen at the far right in the photo. It used to be a wooden building, but was replaced by the metal one which was from Burma, I believe, (No, not the country Burma and not related to Burma-Shave either. It was a location in the Eugene yard north of the East tower, if I am not mistaken.) Photo taken on Kodachrome 64 on March 12th, 1986.

Super cool stuff and lots of motive power eye candy!
The 7559 was one of the last SP units to get a new, full rear light package, bring the end to a 30+ year tradition.

Burma was roughly where the "Ice Dock" was, or where the south end of Irving Siding is today (opposite where the East Tower was located).

Thanks Railbaron for the correct position of "Burma". Appreciate the info.

SP's Taylor Yard in Los Angeles also had a 'Burma Road' which allowed access from the top end of 'C' Yard down to the Roundhouse.
It followed the curves of the LA River to clear all the trackage.
