Dave still looks like that... ~ Bob Z. Date: 11/17/12 07:26 Re: Santa Fe San francisco Chief Author: photobob Trough the magic of the computer time machine we jump ahead 45 years with the current Dave in his old body. All those years at PG&E haven't aged you one bit.

It ran right behind my cousin's backyard near Spokane & Buchannan streets in Albany. Can you imagine seeing this great train operating on Adeline Street in Oakland, on its way to the Emeryville ATSF depot at 40th & San Pablo Streets ?? KRK Date: 11/17/12 16:19 Re: Santa Fe San francisco Chief Author: stash From one of my previous posts, here is the San Francisco Chief passing 55th St. in Oakland nearing the end of a trip from Chicago. I have nice color footage of that train and the Golden Gate trains on the Oakland district. No. 1 would be dragged back to Richmond for servicing before departing Oakland as No. 2. Berkeley was a station stop too.

Unfortunately, later in 1967 the Post Office would pull the mail off of Santa Fe passenger trains. The San Francisco Chief would continue to run until Amtrak, but several other trains including The Chief would be discontinued as a result of the loss of the mail business. Cliff |
