A few more from the "practice slide" pile...Scans of photographs taken by Bob jetmore.
First image is of N&W RS11 #314 at Muncie, In 7/2/74
Second image is of N&W C420 #414 also at Muncie 2/11/74

The condition of everything in these photos, from the track to the locomotives, is interesting. It shows just how dangerously close we came as a nation to losing all of the railroads before the Staggers and 4R acts. Who says government can't help when it has to?!

Of course, the railroads wouldn't have been in the condition they were in if the government had regulated them into near extinction.

So I guess you're right -- the government "helped" by loosening their hands from around the railroad's necks. . . . . .

Let us not forget *why* the railroads were regulated in the first place--Railroad Tycoon wasn't just a game--it was a very real problem of railroads charging outrageous shipping charges that brought about their own regulation by creation of the ICC.
